The Okomu Forest Reserve in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria: Evaluating its Services to Ecosystem and Small Holder Crop Farmers

Aim of study: The basis for sustainable conservation any protected forest area is determined by the services it provides to ecosystem and immediate communities. This study seeks evaluate provided Okomu Forest Reserve that should warrant its conservation. 
 Area was conducted in Edo State, Southern Nigeria. major practices farmers surrounding communities are sole cassava intercropping with maize, melon groundnut.
 Material methods: function system used Reserve, using a questionnaire containing checklist functions. Respondents rural survey were crop farmers, while urban tourists from centres.
 Main results: Results showed dwellers' important functions food/nutrition, fuel energy, fishing mean values 2.81, 2.49 2.04 respectively, dwellers’ recreation/tourism, educational/scientific information nature protection 2.82, 2.76 2.72 respectively. Highlights: order importance as perceived respondents highest carrier, information, regulation least production. perception production least.
